Calculating a trip
For a known-distance calculation, we process distance, travel mode, vehicle category and return-trip choice. Address routing sends the starting point and destination to Google Maps. WalkIT does not persist those addresses in its trip database. Hosting and routing providers process requests under their own policies and may retain technical logs.
Recording a campaign trip
Only trips you explicitly confirm are saved. Records contain the campaign, distance, estimated CO2e, travel mode, distance source, methodology version, date and a campaign-specific pseudonymous device identifier. WalkIT does not store your name, email, home address, IP address or browser fingerprint in trip records.
Device cookie
An essential first-party cookie called walkit_participant identifies this browser for duplicate protection. It lasts up to one year and is not an advertising cookie. Clearing it resets device-based duplicate protection.
Campaign reporting
Public campaign widgets show aggregate monthly and lifetime totals, without device identifiers. Individual trip records are restricted to authorized database operators. Contact Ecodemy for campaign retention arrangements and deletion requests.
